Create a custom training plan.

By creating a custom training plan, you can help your team achieve specific goals and improve their productivity. If a member of your team has trouble paying attention in meetings, for example, they may benefit from more frequent breaks or more time on tasks than other members of the team. By tailoring training plans to each individual’s needs and strengths, you can ensure that everyone is getting the most out of their day at work!

Be a mentor or coach.

As a boss, you’re a role model for your team. You want them to feel motivated and happy in their job, so it’s important to be aware of how you behave around them. This can include:

  • Knowing what motivates people in different ways
  • Reminding yourself that everyone is unique
  • Appreciating the little things
Learn about the needs of your team.

Learn about the needs of your team.

Before you even start to find the right solution, it’s important that you define the problem. If your team needs a more efficient way to communicate, make sure there’s no other underlying issue at play.

Get creative in defining what success looks like and how you’ll measure it. For example: “We want our customer service reps to respond faster so they can handle more calls per day.” Or: “We want our sales team to sell more products by being able to offer discounts on weekends.”

Once you have targets for success in place, then comes execution!

Let your staff get to know one another.

Encourage your team to get to know one another.

It’s important to let your staff get to know one another, so they can feel supported and comfortable with each other. Here are some ways you can create an environment where employees feel comfortable:

  • Encourage them to share their strengths, weaknesses and passions with the rest of the team.
  • Have fun together! Go on a teambuilding day together or go play sports. It’ll help make your office more like family.

Making your staff happier will help everyone on your team.

Don’t assume you know what your employees need and want. You’ll be surprised by the answers if you just ask them! If an employee has a family, ask them if they ever need help with childcare or other family issues that might come up. If someone is struggling with one of their coworkers, don’t be afraid to step in and mediate between them—you might find that it’s something you can solve easily. Ask your employees how they feel about the company’s goals and strategies, then give them feedback on how happy they look when they’re doing things related to those goals and strategies.
